FOIA Request to University of South Florida regarding recent course syllabi on August 6, 2025.

The West Hillsborough News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the University of South Florida. The request seeks access to a complete list of course syllabi for all undergraduate and graduate courses offered during the Spring 2025 academic semester. This includes syllabi from all departments, schools, and colleges, regardless of whether the courses were conducted in-person, online, or through hybrid formats.

The request specifically asks for metadata associated with each course syllabus. This includes details such as the course title and number, instructor name, department or academic unit, and the delivery format of the course (online/in-person/hybrid). The aim is to obtain this information in an electronic format to facilitate ease of access and analysis.

As members of the media, we emphasize that access to public records is crucial for fulfilling our role in holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. In line with this mission, we have requested a fee waiver under our eligibility as media professionals.
