The South Florida men’s golf team finished second out of 13 teams at the Wofford Invitational, shooting a combined 6-under-par 846 at the Country Club of Spartanburg, according to an April 14 announcement.
This result ties the Bulls’ best team finish of the season. Three USF golfers—Jackson Spybey, Roman Solomon, and Matthew Joseph—tied for fourth place individually out of a field of 88 competitors with scores of 3-under-par 210. The Bulls also finished ahead of four nationally ranked top-100 golfers, as noted by Clippd.
Spybey recorded rounds in the 60s during the first two days. Solomon achieved his best three-round score this season with two rounds below par. Joseph matched his season-best performance with a strong opening round and his lowest total over three rounds this year. Wilhelm Ryding tied for fourteenth place at even par, while Nino Palmquist and Hugo Trommetter placed twenty-sixth and thirty-second respectively.
Tournament victory went to No.19 USC Aiken, which finished six strokes ahead with a total score of twelve under par (840). Western Carolina’s Tyler Jones won individual honors with a nine-under-par total (204).
Looking ahead, South Florida will compete in the American Conference Championship from April 27 to April 29 at Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Sarasota.
