Stetson wins 14-8 over Monmouth as Samuel Fernandez contributes in Division I baseball

Stetson Hatters, featuring former Alonso High School standout Samuel Fernandez, defeated the Monmouth Hawks 14-8 in an NCAA Division I baseball game held Sunday, Feb. 22, at 2 p.m.

The matchup, which took place at Melching Field at Conrad Park, marked the teams’ first meeting of the season.

Fernandez tallied two hits on three at-bats, scored a run, drove in four runs, struck out once and stranded three runners.

The Hatters are set to face USC Upstate Spartans next on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 6:30 p.m. at Melching Field at Conrad Park.
