Dr. Thomas H. Hamilton has been selected as the next Academic Dean at Florida College. A tenured faculty member, currently serving as chair of the Bible department, Dr. Hamilton joined the faculty of Florida College in 2005 and has served with distinction, including his outgoing role as the first Chair of the Faculty Senate.

Hamilton earned his associate degree from Florida College and his Bachelor of Arts from Abilene Christian University. He earned a master’s degree in biblical languages from Abilene Christian University and a master’s degree in theological studies from Christian Theological Seminary. Hamilton graduated from Knox Theological Seminary with a doctorate in theological exegesis in 2015.

“I am looking forward to this new way of serving our faculty, our college, and our students. Our faculty are the heart of this school, serving on the front lines of our mission to equip these young people for lives of service to God and this world,” said Dr. Hamilton.

“I relish the opportunity to protect, support, and nurture our faculty in this great cause.”

In his role as Academic Dean, Dr. Hamilton will report to the President, and serve on the leadership team, leading all elements of the College related to teaching and learning. He will supervise the Directors of Academic Services and work closely with his Administrative Assistant who plans and manages many of the academic activities of the College. The Academic Dean will also oversee the Dean of Students in support of the broader student experience. In all these roles, Dr. Hamilton will serve as the voice and strongest advocate on behalf of the faculty within the institution.

Dr. Hamilton has written and lectured widely, and has served as a preacher for churches across the country, extensively in Indiana, where he still serves every summer in the Florida College Camp. He currently preaches at the 58th Street Church of Christ in Tampa.

In addition to his service to the College, Hamilton and his wife, Joy (’83), have been blessed with 11 children: Michael (’09), Bethany (’10), Philip (’11), Sarah (’12), Brian (’17), Stephen (’21), Aminata (’25), Andrew, Jeff, Nick, and Rebekah. They also have 16 grandchildren.
