Visit the Pet Resource Center on Saturday, Aug. 27
Residents interested in adopting a dog or cat and looking for a little extra help in finding a perfect match are invited to the Hillsborough County Pet Resource Center on Saturday, Aug. 27.
Local animal rescue volunteers will be at the shelter from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to answer questions and offer individual attention and counseling for those in search of a pet. The volunteers will discuss with residents factors such as whether there will be children or other pets in the home, what characteristics they're looking for in a pet, and whether they have experience with pet ownership. The resident and volunteer will look at different pets available for adoption in hopes of finding the best match for both.
Fees waived
All adoption fees will be waived on Saturday. Dogs and cats at the shelter are vaccinated, microchipped, registered, and spayed or neutered.
Those searching for pets will find a large selection at the Pet Resource Center, 440 N. Falkenburg Rd., Tampa, FL 33619. The shelter currently has more than 450 dogs and cats, well over the shelter's capacity.
Find the perfect pet
The Pet Resource Center is the only open-admission shelter in Hillsborough County, meaning it accepts dogs and cats regardless of breed, size, or medical condition. Adoption hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Visit the center or search online to view hundreds of adoptable animals.
