Sophomore Victoria Fonseca was named NAIA Offensive Player of the Week after a stellar performance against previous school Trinity Baptist College.
She scored five goals on five shots and contributed an assist in the Lady Falcons' 12-1 win on Saturday. She recorded a career-high 11 points.
Fonseca was originally named the CAC's Offensive Player of the Week and was chosen over 16 other nominees for NAIA Player of the Week. She is the first to receive this honor in Florida College history.
"It's truly an honor to be nationally recognized. My main plan going into this game was to focus on our team effort and get the win, and with the help of my amazing teammates, it was made possible. Without them, I wouldn't have had the performance I did," said Fonseca.
"I'mvery excited that Victoria received this honor. She came to this program hoping to make an immediate impact and has done so with a great work ethic and team spirit," said head coach Joanie Dilbeck. "Out of the hundreds of athletes who competed last week, it is an honor to have Victoria chosen out of our program."
