HCFR and Hillsborough County’s Office of Emergency Management, Tampa Fire Rescue, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue, and various other agencies participated in an exercise at Tampa International Airport.
A simulated crash of a 737 aircraft led to 80 victims needing attention. Volunteers acted as victims, and some were made up to make their injuries look real. Crews from all participating agencies sorted patients by how badly they were injured and then simulated transport to local hospitals. HCFR utilized two fire engines with paramedics, two ambulances, and its AmbuBus, which can take up to 12 patients that may need to lie flat. #YourHCFR was proud to be part of this well-coordinated, multi-agency effort that would be necessary for an emergency of this magnitude.
