The Plant City Police Department reminds everyone that is Rail Safety Week. While the week is highlighted as a campaign, it is important for everyone to remember to practice rail safety at all times.
Every three hours in the United States, a person or a vehicle is struck by a train.
More than 2,100 people are injured or killed annually in railroad crossing or trespassing incidents in the United States. Based on 2021 statistics presented by the Federal Railroad Administration, Florida ranked 6th nationally in railroad incidents
- 94 collisions were reported with 22 reported deaths and 46 injuries.
