Do's and don'ts of yard waste disposal to get your yard back in tip-top shape
Hillsborough County knows residents are eager to clean up their yards and property after Hurricane Ian. To make sure you get the results you expect, follow these rules:
Residential Storm Debris Drop-Off Sites Closing Nov. 20
Residents can take yard debris to the County's four residential storm debris drop-off sites from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. six days a week, Monday through Saturday. After Saturday, Nov. 19, the sites will close and normal yard waste facility locations and hours will resume.The County's four residential storm debris drop-off sites are:
-Northwest County - 8001 W. Linebaugh Ave, Tampa 33625
-South County - 13000 U.S. 41, Gibsonton 33534
-Hillsborough Heights - 6209 County Rd 579, Seffner 33584
Falkenburg Yard Waste Site - 350 Falkenburg Road, Tampa 33619
Residents must show a valid Florida ID to receive free yard waste disposal. Bagged waste must be emptied by the resident for disposal because plastic bags can damage mulch-processing equipment.
Regular Curbside Yard Waste Collection
Regular curbside yard waste collection resumed Monday, Oct. 3. At this time, only bagged or packaged yard waste will be collected curbside by your regular waste hauler. Find your collection day here. Piles of leaves and small twigs must be bagged or placed in containers to be collected curbside by your regular waste hauler. Any new yard waste being placed out for collection must meet standard yard waste size and set out rules.
Large Storm-Related Debris Curbside Collection
Hillsborough County-contracted disaster debris haulers began collecting large yard waste storm debris on Thursday, Oct. 6. Residents should have already placed storm debris at the curb. Pile of leaves and small twigs must be bagged or placed in containers to be collected curbside by your regular waste hauler. Any new yard waste being placed out for collection must meet standard yard waste size and set out rules. The County does not enter private property to remove debris for you.
Private Gated Communities - Right of Entry Form Needed
Private gated community leaders need to fill out the the Right of Entry and Hold Harmless Agreement form in order for the County to seek federal funding assistance for the cost of servicing private communities.
