Team HCSO was able to help save some stranded paddleboarders using our new SAFE boat, and it made all the difference in the rescue!
On January 15, 2023, just after 7 p.m., our HCSO Marine Unit responded to north spoil island in response to some stranded adults who could not make it back to Davis Island Boat Ramp. The winds had picked up, and what had been a nice sunny day, had turned into a cold evening. Using our new SAFE boat, deputies were able to lower the drop-down bow onto the sand for easy, and quick retrieval of the paddleboarders. They were dropped off at the Davis Island Boat ramp safely, and with no injuries.
