Did you know that most strawberry plants grown in Florida are planted by hand? Or that African cichlid fish are mouthbrooders, meaning that maternal fish keep their babies in their mouth to protect them?
Those are just a couple of the fascinating facts learned on the Military Agriculture Tour held on March 24. The tour was hosted by the Hillsborough County UF/IFAS Extension Service and attended by veterans and their spouses.
Every year the tour showcases careers in the local agriculture industry as a way to connect veterans with job opportunities. Career options include sales professionals, unmanned aerial vehicle specialists, mechanics, managers, and teachers, among many others. The tour provides attendees with the chance to hear from local farmers and ask questions.
