• Dr. Mariah Pate and her team at Tampa Bay Breathe Free can help to nip your sinusitis and allergy issues in the bud before they cause you to cancel your summer plans.

Summer is just around the corner, and with it comes the anticipation of vacations, backyard barbecues and basking in the warmth of the sun. However, for those who suffer from sinusitis and allergies, this time of year can be a real challenge. Dr. Mariah Pate of Tampa Bay Breathe Free Sinus & Allergy Centers would like to help you avoid having to cancel any summer plans due to allergies or chronic sinusitis.

"Breathe Free is a fantastic concept that helps give patients a first-line approach to their sinus and allergy problems," Pate told West Hillsborough News. "It takes all of the most up-to-date treatment plans, devices and techniques, and combines them with an efficient, personalized approach to patient care."

As the spring allergy season comes to an end, it's important to be mindful of the upcoming challenges posed by summer allergies caused by weeds and grasses. While spring allergies may be subsiding as trees and flowers finish blooming, ragweed emerges as one of the most prevalent allergy triggers during the summer. Surprisingly, this pesky plant isn't confined to the areas in which it grows, as it can be carried by the wind for hundreds of miles, according to WebMD.

According to sinussurgeryoptions.com, there are minimally invasive treatment options that can improve your sinusitis and summer allergies, one of which is balloon sinuplasty.

A balloon sinuplasty is an in-office procedure that's simple and only takes about an hour. The prep lasts about 30 minutes and involves a local anesthetic being applied to the nose for comfort. A thin instrument with a balloon is then guided through the sinus, the balloon is gently inflated for five seconds with saline and, when your sinuses open, the balloon is removed.

"When you come to Breathe Free, you're going to be treated like the only patient there," Pate said. "You're going to be able to get all of your problems diagnosed when it comes to sinus and allergies, and you'll have a quick and effective way to treat it. We want to treat each patient as if they are the only person in front of us. That's the most important thing at that point. It's a nice way for patients to feel better as quickly as possible."

Pate and her team at Tampa Bay Breathe Free Sinus & Allergy Centers can help to treat your sinus issues before they put a damper on your plans this summer. The clinic offers balloon sinuplasty, in addition to other sinus, allergy and general ENT (ear, nose and throat) treatments. The hallmark of Pate's practice is treating patients with respect and compassion.
