USF’s Stewart posts season-best round at American Men’s Golf Championship

Joshua Stewart posted a season-best round of 5-under 67 on the second day of the American Men’s Golf Championship on April 28 at the Ritz-Carlton Members Club in Sarasota, Florida.

The South Florida Bulls are currently in fourth place out of eleven teams with a team score of 16-under 560 after two rounds. The team shot a combined score of 10-under 278 in the second round.

Stewart is tied for sixth place among fifty-seven golfers at 7-under 137 after two rounds and recorded his first eagle of the season on the fifth hole. Wilhelm Ryding also shares sixth place at 7-under 137 after shooting a one-under-par round. Hugo Trommetter posted his third sub-70 round this season with a three-under-par score and is tied for fifteenth place overall. Jackson Spybey finished one under par and sits tied for twenty-sixth, while Nino Palmquist recorded an even-par round to tie for thirty-first.

The Bulls will begin their final round tomorrow at 8:30 a.m., starting from the first hole alongside East Carolina and UAB.

According to information about USF men’s golf, the program has won nineteen conference titles and seen players earn nineteen All-America honors. The Bulls have secured six American Athletic Conference Tournament championships, including four consecutive wins from 2015 to 2018, and have had six individual conference champions. Jake Peacock claimed individual titles in both 2024 and 2025. The team appeared in nine straight NCAA Regionals from 2013 to 2022, achieving a sixth-place finish in NCAA Championship match play in 2015. Steve Bradley leads USF as head coach and has been named American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year five times since taking over in 2014.

Looking ahead, South Florida aims to improve its standing as it enters the final day of competition.
