Wilhelm Ryding finished in second place with an 8-under 208 as the South Florida men’s golf team secured fourth position at the Calusa Cup, hosted by Iowa at Calusa Pines Golf Course on April 7.
The event saw the Bulls finish seven strokes ahead of No. 34 Louisville. Ryding matched his best result of the season, posting scores in the 60s for both opening rounds and finishing ahead of five nationally ranked top-50 golfers.
Hugo Trommetter achieved his lowest round this season with a 4-under 68 in the first round and ended tied for eleventh at three under par. Jackson Spybey tied for seventeenth place after recording two rounds at or below par, while Nino Palmquist tied for twenty-third and closed out with a final round score of three-under-par. Joshua Stewart finished thirty-fifth overall.
No. 3 Florida claimed victory in the tournament by four strokes, finishing with a total score of twenty-two under par (842). Virginia’s Paul Chang won the individual title after shooting twelve under par (204).
The Bulls will compete next at their final regular season tournament, participating in the Wofford Invitational from April 12 to April 14 in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
South Florida men’s golf has captured nineteen conference titles and produced nineteen All-America honorees. The program is led by Steve Bradley, who has earned American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors five times since taking over in 2014.
