Wilhelm Ryding has been named the American Conference Men’s Golf Player of the Year and was a unanimous selection for the All-Conference team, according to a May 5 announcement from the league office. This marks his second consecutive season earning All-Conference honors.
Ryding is currently ranked No. 61 in NCAA men’s golf player rankings and holds the highest rank among players in the American, as reported by Clippd. He competed in ten tournaments and played 29 rounds this season, leading his team with a stroke average of 69.90.
During this season, Ryding earned American Men’s Golf Player of the Week three times and achieved six top-10 finishes. He recorded thirteen rounds in the 60s and twenty-four rounds at par or better. His best performance included a season-best 54-hole score of seven-under-par (203) to finish second at the Gators Invitational, as well as recording his lowest round score with a five-under-par (65) during that event’s second round.
Ryding also finished second at the Calusa Cup with an eight-under-par (208) and placed eighth at the American Championship with a nine-under-par (207). The Tyreso, Sweden native ranks second on his team with 110 birdies and leads with three eagles.
The Bulls will learn if they have secured a spot in NCAA Regionals on Wednesday, May 6, at 2:00 p.m., which will be announced on Golf Channel. The USF men’s golf program has captured nineteen conference titles and produced nineteen All-America honorees over its history. Steve Bradley currently leads USF men’s golf as head coach.
