Raised in the Tampa Bay area, #teamHCSO Deputy Brian Malvoisin says there were two life-changing moments that led him to join the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in 2015. The first was when, as a child, he watched someone he respects very much, go to jail for several years. Later on in life, Deputy Malvoisin would experience depression as an adult.
"I couldn't pay the bills. You feel it, you definitely feel like you're in a box. That's how I felt, and just there's just no way out," explained Deputy Malvoisin.
After a friend told Deputy Malvoisin that HCSO was hiring years ago, he applied to become a detention deputy within the jail. It's where he now shares his personal story with inmates.
